The NSS envisaged to give an extension dimension to higher education and to establish meaningful linkage between the Campus and the Community NSS is a student youth service programme which aims at arousing social consciousness of the students with overall objective of personality development through community service The NSS motto "Not Me But You" underlines the guiding principle of the NSS It provides opportunity to students for socially productive works and involve them to community service An important feature of the NSS is that its programmes are organized by the students themselves under the guidance of their teachers as Programme Officers. The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Synod Higher School was started on the 14th July 2010 Its members/volunteers are the Higher Secondary students of the School keeping its motto in mind the NSS unit of the school undertook many activities right from its inception till date Some of these activities are tree plantation in different areas in and around Shillong, visits to the orphanage and street children, workshop, conducting and attending different awareness programmes like cleaning drives, special camp programme, observance of important days/weeks like World Environment Day, Flag Day, NSS Foundation Day etc In January 7-11,2014 the NSS unit of our School took part in the five day celebration of North East National Service Scheme Youth Festival with its theme "Bonding Beyond Borders" held at U Soso Tham Auditorium where they participated in various activities and programmes The National Service Scheme (NSS) is one of the active units of our School and is part and parcel of the NSS body of the State under the North Easterm Hills University (NEHU). As a unit, our school has done a tremendous service towards the civil societies and the indigenous people living in the suburbs and the urban areas and especially for the semi- literate areas lying under the belt of the remote rural boundaries. Almost all of our programmes have created awareness among the people and helped the individuals and their families to shape themselves for a better tomorrow CE SCHE HT
